I'm making my Off-Broadway Directing/Writing Debut!
Hi friends!! In fourteen short days I will be making my Directing and Writing Off-Broadway debut at Theatre Row with a docutheatre piece Trump Rally, based off the documentary by Sean Dunne which you can watch here. I did a ten-minute version of this at the Kraine in January for The Resister Project with one of my favorite theatre companies in New York, The Dirty Blondes. But now, Anna and I have expanded it into a much fuller production. Anyway it's kinda nuts that around this time ten years ago I made my Off-Broadway debut (and only Off-Broadway credit thus far) at The York with a show called The New Kid (some of you who know me really well might have actually seen--but otherwise, it was about ten people and our parents in the audience. Also, I just tried to Google any information about it but there wasn't any, so for all anyone knows, it didn't happen). But I'm back Off-Broadway but this time in a much different capacity, and I'd love to share my work with you.
Anyway, I'm joined by an awesome team of Rebecca Aparicio (my producer), Hana Mastrogiacomo (my Asst. Director), Jenn Fok (my lighting designer) and I'm designing Anna's costume because I'm a crazy person so why wouldn't I just leave it at directing and writing? In any event, we are having an awesome time in rehearsals--we were featured on BroadwayWorld, and we've launched an Indiegogo campaign to help raise some money. Here's where I need some help.
I hate fundraising. It's my least favorite part of the business. I hate asking people for money, I hate posting and bugging people--it's seriously my achilles heal. But I beg you, I beseech you, even just giving $5 or whatever you can afford. I'll even make you a deal, if you donate and are an artist with an Indiegogo you have coming up, I will donate to yours. Just remind me probably, although I'm a little compulsive with this kind of stuff and will probably keep a list. But even just a share, or a like for our Facebook page can go a loooong way. Donate to us today. Every little bit helps. But most importantly, if you're in town, the show is Saturday, Oct. 14 at 6pm at Theatre Row. Buy tickets here!
Other things worth mentioning are that earlier tonight I was featured in Diana Oh's {my lingerie play} at Rattlestick Theatre and it's an incredible celebration of body positivity and feminism and all other good things and it's playing through Oct. 28 so you should definitely see it.
Lastly I'm also doing a performance art piece for Pop Up Micro Theatre this Wednesday, Oct. 4th...so, to say it's a busy month would be an understatement.
I love you. Thanks for reading this. If you have the money to donate, please do, if not, tell your rich friends or something.
