5 Reasons Why I Made The Bed Show
I’ve been doing a show in people’s bedrooms for five years and now it’s going Off-Broadway. Here’s why you should see it.
The Intersection Of Comedy and Tragedy; or Why I’ve Spent Five Years Reviving A Scientology Pageant Off-Broadway
Inside every adult is an inner child. If that inner child has experienced abuse and been rejected by their families and other institutions (school, the medical system, etc.), they will seek a community where they can.
Libra Season
Finally, my soul is nourished. We are out of the wretched season of summer (although, for once, I had a great summer) and into my favorite season: fall. Fall is wonderful because it means we're just that much closer to November, which means we're that much closer to Scorpio season, where I reach my full power
How Can We Really Know How Much We’re Worth?
Recently, a man named LJ from Queer Exchange on Facebook tried to sell me life insurance under the guise of “financial planning”. This was my second experience with a life insurance scam.
Is Donnie Darko A Tale For Our Times?
Donnie Darko has been on my mind lately. It started when I was listening to a playlist on Spotify, and Gary Jules’s cover of the Tears For Fears song “Mad World” came on. It’s a song I’ve known for years, and it’s a song I know well. But for some reason the lyrics “Children waiting for the day they feel good, happy birthday, happy birthday” have been etched into my consciousness as of late.
10 Thoughts.
It has been extremely difficult for me to focus on anything, but I feel like I’m starting to come out of, or at least have found a manageable way, to exist within the mental funk of all of this. Even writing this took weeks of exerting mental strength to myself formulate my thoughts into words even somewhat coherently.
Where Was This Stage Adaptation of ALIEN When I Was A Teenager?
2008. I am 16. I’m working with my former mentor on a non-musical production of Stephen King's CARRIE that I wrote myself at The Darress Theatre in Morris County, New Jersey in the blazing heat, and of course, the theatre does not have air conditioning.
I Wrote A Play About The Insane Clown Posse And This Is What I Learned
My journey with the Juggalos began in a very banal way: in my pajamas, nuzzled in my squeaky full size bed in my roach-infested apartment on 207th Street browsing Reddit, mildly stoned, browsing the /r/Documentary subreddit around three in the morning. Something caught my eye: a thumbnail of a couple with black face paint outlining their facial features.
New year, who dis?
So far the end of 2017 and the beginning of 2018 has been pretty amazing. On December 26th, the day after Christmas, I directed the most incredible kids in A Very Merry Unauthorized Children's Scientology Pageant: In Concert at Feinsteins/54 Below and it was such a wonderful experience.
I'm a Literary Associate with the Dirty Blondes (and I wrote a new play)!
When I moved to the city in 2015, the first theatre company that took me on as a playwright was The Dirty Blondes with their Play In A Day Festival where I met so many wonderful collaborators who I'd go on to work with in the future. If not for them, I would not have met Anna Rock, and would not have gotten to make Trump Rally for her and make my Off-Broadway debut.
I'm making my Off-Broadway Directing/Writing Debut!
Hi friends!! In fourteen short days I will be making my Directing and Writing Off-Broadway debut at Theatre Row with a docutheatre piece Trump Rally, based off the documentary by Sean Dunne which you can watch here. I did a ten-minute version of this at the Kraine in January for The Resister Project with one of my favorite theatre companies in New York, The Dirty Blondes.
I'm Smiling Because We've Got a Show!
My show closes this weekend! Its called I’m Smiling Because I’m Uncomfortable and I’m co-directing it with Hana Mastrogiacomo, it’s performed/written by Emma Howard and Executive Produced by Alyssa Berdie in people’s kitchens with the address delivered to ticket holders 24 hours in advance.
A Summer of Stuff!
Hi guys! My website got a makeover by the incredibly talented Kristin Dawn-Dumas. Thanks, Kristin! This past weekend, I was the Artistic Director for Greed Play with After-School Special on Wall Street. Here’s one of my favorite moments.
